Time
Time tells us when things happen and how long they take. We use seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, and years.
Your goals
- ✓You can read clocks, calculate duration, and solve time problems.
- ✓You can use duration, interval correctly.
- ✓You can count hours and minutes separately, exchanging 60 minutes for 1 hour.
Words to know
- duration:
- How long an event lasts.
- interval:
- The time between two moments.
Examples
- 160 seconds = 1 minute. 60 minutes = 1 hour.
- 2A film starts at 2:15 pm and lasts 1 hour 50 minutes. It ends at 4:05 pm.
Check these
- • Do not treat an hour as 100 minutes.
- • Keep every number, symbol, label, and unit in its correct place.
- • Show enough working to check how you reached your answer.
