Metric units are connected by powers of ten. Multiplying or dividing by 10, 100, or 1000 moves between related units.

Words to know

convert:
Express the same measurement in a different unit.
conversion factor:
The number used to multiply or divide between units.

Examples

  • 13.5 m = 350 cm.
  • 22,400 g = 2.4 kg.
