Pie Charts

A pie chart is a circle divided into slices. Each slice represents a proportion of the total. The whole circle (360°) represents 100% of the data.

Words to know

sector:
A slice of a circle between two radii.
proportion:
A part compared with the whole.

Examples

  • 1If 25% of students like football, the slice is 25% of 360° = 90°.
  • 2A bigger slice means a bigger proportion of the total.

Check these

  • • Do not compare only the curved edges instead of the sector angles.
  • • Keep every number, symbol, label, and unit in its correct place.
